Hi! I’m Jennifer, and I’m the human behind My Golden Retriever Life. I’m a dog mom to Biscuit, a 7-year-old Golden Retriever with the most sensitive stomach you’ve ever seen, and two very opinionated cats who think they run the house (they do).

Why I Started This Blog

When Biscuit was 4, she started having chronic digestive issues — the kind that make you cancel plans because you can’t leave the house for more than an hour. After months of vet visits, elimination diets, and trying every supplement that promised to fix her gut, I realized how confusing and contradictory the pet supplement world is.

So I started documenting everything. What we tried, what worked, what was a waste of money, and what I wished someone had told me from the beginning. This blog is that documentation, shared in case it helps another Golden Retriever parent who’s where I was three years ago.

My Approach

I’m not a veterinarian, a scientist, or a pet industry insider. I’m a dog mom who reads a lot, asks her vet a million questions, and believes in sharing both successes and failures. Everything on this blog is our genuine experience — I don’t accept sponsorships from supplement brands, and I’ll tell you when something didn’t work just as readily as when it did.

Life in Portland

We live in Portland, Oregon, where the rain keeps Biscuit’s coat magnificent and the muddy trails keep her joints honest. When we’re not testing supplements, you’ll find us at the dog park, on forest hikes, or on the couch watching nature documentaries (Biscuit’s favorite: anything with wolves).
